John Treacy Egan, WCC Class of 1983, added another Broadway role to his resume when the new revival of "Bye Bye Birdie” opened on October 15th. John, who got rave reviews for his last Broadway role as Chef Louis in "The Little Mermaid”, plays the part of Mr. Johnson in "Birdie”.
While he loves being an actor, John also devotes much of his time to his singing career. With one CD already to his credit his newest CD, "On Christmas Morning”, was released in early November. "I am so excited about my new Christmas CD”, he said. "I love Christmas music and I had the honor of working with some really fine musicians on this project”. John should be pleased, On Christmas Morning got three awesome reviews, won
second place for independent CD of the year by Cabaret Online, and received a wonderful feature on SIRIUS XM Radio. It is now being considered for a MAC award and is still selling
at a nice pace on CDBABY and ITUNES, and Christmas is over!
John plans to donate $1 from the sale of each CD to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. "BC/EFA is now so much more than a charity that provides funding and services directly to people living with HIV/AIDS, it also provides funds to The Phyllis Newman’s Women’s Health Initiative to fight women’s health issues, including breast cancer, and to the Al Hirshfeld Free Clinic and Health Network as well as many other charities across the U.S.”
"On Christmas Morning” is available online at www.CDBABY.com or on John’s website, www.JohnTreacyEgan.com. It can also be downloaded from www.itunes.com.
